Making a successful website is simple but not easy. The main reason people make a successful website is to make money online. For a website to be successful and make money, certain elements need to come together.
Here are the steps to make a successful website
1) Solve a problem, satisfy a need
In order to build a successful website, your website first need to solve the visitors problem or satisfy a need. In other words, what does your website have that solve the visitors problem?
It’s the age old question and it will never change. People will always have wants and needs and if your website solve that problem or meets a need, then the money will follow.
2) Keyword Research
Once you identify a problem, it becomes the theme of your website. Now you need to go figure the different keyword phrases a visitor will type into the search engines to find your site.
Keyword research is the foundation of a successful website and it’s also where most people got it wrong. Most people build a website based on keywords they think visitors will type in.
See, it’s impossible to know what visitors may type in unless you check the keywords you found against a database of keywords to verify that. That database of keywords contains results gathered from the major search engines.
That way, you know for each keyword, how many people search for it, how much competition for it and such.
3. Site Design and Navigation
If you have step 2 correctly, the skeleton of your website should be apparent. Then you can begin the site design and navigation of your site to different sub webpages.
Your website should be professional and clean and easy to read. Avoid cluttering your website with too much graphics or flash. The website navigation should be simple and able to access to all webpages within 2 clicks.
If you find it difficult, you can hire a web designer to do for you or use the free web templates available on the internet.
4. Content
Content is utmost important for a successful website. You should have good quality, well-researched content. Don’t write junk and don’t write content not related to the theme of your website. Keep all content tightly related to each other.
This way, your website will please both search engine and visitors.
The 4 guidelines above are the basic blueprint of a successful website. Do note that what I’ve discussed is just the onsite portion of your website. The other portion is offsite which delves into marketing and seo and is equally important to make a website successful.
